Channahon Family Devastated Over Missing Cat

Snickers has been missing since Tuesday night.

Tammy Anderson has been on the phone pretty much nonstop since Tuesday. She has called all the area shelters and veterinarians trying to locate her cat Snickers. She also blanketed the area around Amberleigh Estates, where she lives, with fliers.

"I’ve been doing everything I can think of short of knocking on everyone's door," Anderson said.

The Anderson family adopted Snickers from the Will County Humane Society. When the cat first arrived, she was not spayed, and when she went into heat, she escaped the house. The family quickly got her spayed, but the cat still managed to get out.

The cat is a year and a half old and is the color of a Snickers bar, for which she is named. The cat is microchipped. However, Anderson said she is worried about the cat being outside.

"The intention was an indoor cat and we have three small kids," Anderson said. "I know a lot of people don’t like to hear this, but she has no claws.

"I know its warmer than usual, but it’s still cold outside."

The family lives in the subdivision behind the McDonalds and the Walgreens on Yellow Pine Drive and Ridge Road.

"My fear is that she is just a beautiful cat and she is so loving that someone is going to keep her," Anderson said.

Anyone with information can call 708-955-3976.

"If they don’t want to call, take her to any of the vets or an animal shelter, she is microchipped," Anderson said.

I will keep my eye out. We get cats roaming here by the ravines. Hope snickers is ok. I heard the coyotes 2 nights in a row being really loud. It sounded like a bunch of hyenas.

I am sure that info is comforting to the family. Shared and will watch for her. Cats may try to get back to their home and can travel far.

SNICKERS FAMILY
OK, first thing, please ignore people who give you doomsday scenarios.
Stay hopeful and proactive. Have your neighbors check any uncovered basement window wells, just in case, because cats can fall in. Post flyers around the neighborhood and at the gas station so people are reminded to look for her. We have a feral cat population around here and many times people will ignore strays because of that. I have shared her pic. Also look for Lost Cats Illinois on facebook. I know there is a lost dogs site. Sure there must be a lost cat one as well. I will post the link for you if I can find it.
Best of luck in getting your kitty home safe and sound. Prayers toward that end because they never hurt. :-)

Most likely she is hiding nearby. Cats are quite fightened when out in strange place, Keep a look ou in nearby garages, bushes. maybe set out some food near your home , do not chase her if she comes within site, sit down and call her calmly.

SNICKERS IS HOME!!! A friend returned her this evening from just a couple houses away. She was hiding in her garage. We had just gotten home from going door-to-door handing our flyers and looking in window wells when the doorbell rang...best sound ever! She is pretty freaked out but seems amazingly unharmed. We are thrilled to have her back home with us!! Thank you to everyone who shared her story and/or helped search for our beloved Snickers! Our family is whole again! :)
