Channahon Resident Works at the Zoo
Jacki Carugati McHale gets to spend the day at the Brookfield Zoo.
A few weeks ago, Patch editor Dawn Aulet sat down to lunch with Channahon resident Jacki Carugati McHale. She was about to burst, she was so excited about working for the day at Brookfield Zoo.
The segment of her day at the zoo aired this morning on ABC 7. If you missed it, you can watch it here.
McHale had predicted before going that her favorite part of the day would be painting with the rhino, Kabisa. She said that she was right.
"Kabisa was not in her normal pen, they were doing some painting and updating so she was in one that was harder for us to get to her face," McHale said. "But the shot turned out amazing."
McHale got to keep the painting that Kabisa made. At the end of the segment, McHale was so thrilled by her day at the zoo that she thanked the ABC 7 staff through her tears.
She was so excited and thrilled to be there, to the point of tears she was so happy," Roz Varon said at the conclusion of the segment.

We have adopted Mirtha for the the past 11 years through the zoo's Share the Care Program. See her and the others every time we are there.

What a rewarding experience, however, I thought there could have been more of an in-depth report about Jackie's experience.
