Drew Peterson's Kid's Date With Destiny Set

The Village of Oak Brook has set a date to determine whether to fire Drew Peterson's son.

The Village of Oak Brook's fire and police commission has set yet another date to figure out whether to fire Drew Peterson's cop son.

Peterson's son Stephen Peterson, an Oak Brook patrol officer who has been on paid suspension since August, will find out if he still has a job on Feb. 19.

Oak Brook Police Chief Thomas Sheahan has been trying to fire Stephen Peterson for hiding three of his father's guns from the state police, not to mention failing to disclose that his father gave him more than $230,000 in the midst of a criminal investigation. Sheahan is also going after Stephen Peterson for failing to keep mum about the internal probe launched by the Oak Brook Police Department.

Stephen Peterson admitted to stashing three of his father's firearms right before the state police executed a search warrant at Drew Peterson's home in November 2007. The state police were looking for Drew Peterson's missing wife, Stacy Peterson, who vanished just days before.

The state police believe Stacy Peterson, who remains missing, was the victim of a "potential homicide" and that Drew Peterson may have had a hand in killing her.

Despite their suspicions, the state police have yet to charge Drew Peterson with harming Stacy Peterson, who is his fourth wife. The state police did arrest Drew for allegedly murdering his previous wife, Kathleen Savio, who was found drowned in a dry bathtub in March 2004.

For the three and a half years between Savio's death and Stacy's disappearance, the state police insisted Savio somehow perished accidentally while bathing. But after Stacy vanished, the state police suddenly changed their tune and decided she was slain and that her killer cleverly staged her death to disguise it as a mishap.

The three-man fire and police commission was supposed to determine Stephen Peterson's fate last month, but postponed their decision due to the complexity of the case. They put off the matter until Feb. 2, but a massive winter storm forced the cancellation of that date as well.

Stephen Peterson has been collecting his check throughout the disciplinary process.
