A fire broke out Monday afternoon in Minooka behind First American Metal Corp.'s building at 113 Industrial Drive, in what appeared to be a garbage pile.
The fire was called in around 2:30 p.m., and responders from Minooka Fire Protection District, Troy Fire Protection District and Plainfield Fire Protection District were among those reporting to the scene.
Business at Family Video in Minooka was not affected by the fire burning just three buildings away. Store manager Nora McBride said there were lots of fire engines, but that she did not see anything when she went to look outside.
"I could not see it from the corner window, I did not go outside," McBride said of the blaze.
Smoke, however, was reportedly able to be seen from as far away as Minooka Community High School's south campus on Route 6.
The fire was under control by around 2:50 p.m. It was fully extinguished and workers were doing clean up on the scene by late Monday afternoon.
Since moving into Minooka in June 2008, First American Metal has been the subject of numerous village ordinance violations and resident complaints related to noise and garbage management.
Phone calls to First American Metal and the Minooka Fire Protection District were not immediately returned.
Patch will update this story as more information becomes available.

James was kicked out of Bedford Park, now probably operating illegally in Minooka. Thank God no 1st responders were hurt, but maybe they will escort him out.
