Three senior honor physics students will advance to the state Rube Goldberg competition. Alexis Yakich, Karla Gossen, and Nicole Johnson designed Mr. Rubeorium's Wonder Emporium, which was awarded first place in its contest Feb. 27. The students at Minooka Community High School will compete on March 9 at University of Illinois. Second place winners, junior Alexis Stefaniak, junior Marissa Post, and junior Jessica Zohrer created The Game of Rube and will join the seniors at the state competition.
The contest has been held at Minooka Community High School since 1998. The honors physics teacher Anthony Babich oversaw the competition and was a judge as well. He has been involved in the school contest for seven years.
"I don't know if there's a secret to success, but there's certainly recipes for disaster," Babich said.
