Joliet Man Crashed and Burned
After crashing his car, a local man was charged with carrying a pistol.
Maybe you can't blame Alejandro Costilla for crashing his car into a tree, but if he really had that pistol stuck in the waistband of his pants that the police said he did, it's his fault for not getting rid of it before the paramedics showed up.
Costilla, 19, of 609 Des Plaines St. was charged with the aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and the possession of ammunition without a firearm owner's identification card following his car wreck a block away from his house about 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
Fire department paramedics responding to the crash found Costilla wandering around with his face bleeding, police said.
The paramedics began treating a possibly dazed Costilla for his injuries and one of them found a pistol stuck in his waistband, police said.
Costilla was taken to the Will County jail where he remains in custody. He is being held on a $15,000 bond.
