Look Up Crime Stats in Your Community
Patch has created a searchable database of the FBI's recently released 2011 stats on violent crimes and property crimes.
The FBI recently released its 2011 Uniform Crime Report, which compiles information from local law enforcement about violent crimes and property crimes in their communities.
Use the pull-down menu to find your city or town. Violent crimes and property crimes are listed as totals, and are then broken down into several categories. Murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault are all categories of violent crimes. Burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft, and arson are all categories of property crimes.
For more crime data or a further explanation of the types of crimes listed, you can visit the FBI's website.

Interesting foot note for violent crimes.
2 The data collection methodology for the offense of forcible rape used by Chicago, Illinois, and the Minnesota state Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program (with the exception of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota) does not comply with national UCR Program guidelines. Consequently, its figures for forcible rape and violent crime (of which forcible rape is a part) are not published in this table.

I love how to lie with statistics. In a two person race, the last person finishes second.

In your example, the first person also finishes next to last. Lies consisting only of words are not nearly as powerful as lies consisting of words & numbers. "There are lies, damn lies and statistics"

Seriously, Forcible Rape? Like there is anything such as unforced rape. I am SO sick of this foolishness.

I think they are differentiating between that and statutory for the purpose of crime stats.

Yes. There is such a thing as "statutory rape" which does not always involve the use of force. The issue of consent is also, obviously, extremely central to any claim of rape, and it's not always clear in every situation, such as when the victim is intoxicated and/or in cases of date rape.
Our modern times has no doubt expanded the definition of rape as well. The Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy entry for “Feminist Perspectives on Rape” states that “we must recognize that, in some cases, ‘yes’ also means no. . . . The man may threaten to sue for custody of their children, to derail her green card application, to evict her, or simply to sulk and make her life miserable for days should she refuse to have sex. Which (if any) such nonviolent coercive pressures should be regarded as rape, either morally or legally, is a matter of some controversy.”
So, there are criminal gradations of severity with rape, just like with any crime.

"Forcible rape," as defined by the FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting Handbook, is "the carnal knowledge of a female forcibly and against her will." The handbook states that "against her will" includes "instances in which the victim is incapable of giving consent because of her temporary or permanent mental or physical incapacity (or because of her youth)." The handbook continues: "The ability of the victim to give consent must be a professional determination by the law enforcement agency. The age of the victim, of course, plays a critical role in this determination. Individuals do not mature mentally at the same rate. For example, no 4-year-old is capable of consenting, whereas victims aged 10 or 12 may need to be assessed within the specific circumstances regarding the giving of their consent."
The handbook defines other categories of sexual assault, including statutory rape. You can see them all at http://www2.fbi.gov/ucr/handbook/ucrhandbook04.pdf

He never said that. He said that many rape claims are bogus.
Remember the Duke lacrosse "rape". That girl lied and those boys were dragged through the legal system for no reason. Their lives were essentially ruined and the girl who falsely accused them had nothing done to her.

That is what is CAUSING the problems in the SOUTH you idiots. CONCEALED WEAPONS. NO we do not want CONCEALED WEAPONS In the midwest. If YOU want to live that way (and this has nothing to do with do gooder anything) it is common damned sense, then why don't you go move to the SOuth and duke it out with a gun. No one has bothered any of us. The guns are the problem. Keep them in your home and defend your home. No one is against guns, but many of us are against idiots who think that they have the self control to carry a concealed weapon inpublic "oh so that YOU can shoot someone off of your prejudices and half witted peanut gallery of neurotic suspicion". None of the major crimes should have been cleared at all. Many of those crimes are cleared because non-minorities get to run around like animals with guns. The thefts are predominately from the typical "Pillars" of society any way. The Barrington numbers are MAJOR lies. ALL that they DO in Barrington is ROB others. The den of theives LIVE in Barrington. Keep your guns in your home. You just want to murder folks who do not look like you. All of the numbers are all BS and that idiot above regarding the rape of Duke Sex Offenders is probably related to the criminals in that assult. Most of the women who make up the rape come from those who were taught to call everything a rape. Non-minorities rarely report because they are discredited and Duke types ALWAYS get away with rape and murder. People are just filth all over.

Callie – your position allows criminals to perpetrate violent crimes without fear and takes away the ability for law abiding citizens to defend themselves. That is absolutely all it does. I support required training, tougher screening, etc. but I do not support denying the responsible individual the right to defend themselves. The only idiot in this discussion is from someone that claims that Illinois not having concealed carry has somehow reduced crime or made the residents of Illinois safer. Nothing stops anyone from carrying a gun at any time other than the responsible people don’t, well, because they are responsible. Then there is the position that rampant lawlessness would ensue coming from a resident of Illinois. Indiana, Ohio, etc. are all midwest and all allow for concealed carry. We are the joke of the midwest in more ways than one so I wouldn’t be waving the state banner for others to follow. Once again the prohibitionists – lets ban something for everyone because the mistakes of a few. There is a tremendous of responsibility that comes with concealed carry and 99.9% of all who partake understand and respect this. I know many people that have a permit but none that walk around with an attitude of wanting to go out and regulate. This is just another broad stereotype not founded at all in fact which is the primary crux of your position. If they wanted this lifestyle they probably are or would become a police officer – most of us would certainly be qualified.

I am not related to any of the lacrosse players at Duke that were falsely accused of raping the stripper that was at one of their house parties. Before you call me an idiot, maybe you should look up the facts in this case. here. I'll help you: http://crime.about.com/od/current/a/duke_lacrosse.htm
Try reading this and you will see that none of what that girl said was true, but it did ruin the lives of innocent young men. By the way, the girl in this case has since been charged with attempted murder, arson, identity theft, communicating threats, damage to property, resisting an officer and child abuse.
So, maybe before you call people idiots, you should look in the mirror to see what a true idiot looks like.
