'Real Steel' Real Popular in Shorewood

"Real Steel" was Shorewood's favorite movie rental last week. Really?

The most popular Redbox movie rental in Shorewoodland last week was Real Steel.

No kidding.

We went on the Redbox site to see what Real Steel was all about and here's what it said:

"In the near-future where the sport of boxing has gone high-tech, Charlie Kenton, a washed-up fighter loses his chance at a title when 2000-pound, 8- foot-tall steel robots take over the ring. Now nothing but a small-time promoter, Charlie earns just enough money piecing together low-end bots from scrap metal to get from one underground boxing match to the next. When Charlie hits rock bottom, he reluctantly teams up with his estranged son Max to build and train a championship contender. As the stakes in the brutal, no-holds-barred arena are raised, Charlie and Max, against all odds, get one last shot at a comeback."

We're going to be up front with you and admit that we haven't actually watched this movie. But we did see some commercials, and they reminded us of the Fox football graphic, and also Rock 'em Sock 'em Robots, which we wanted really badly when we were kids but our parents wouldn't get for us. But that's a whole other story.

At any rate, here's the list:

  1. Real Steel
  2. 50/50
  3. Drive
  4. Paranormal Activity 3
  5. Moneyball
  6. Abduction
  7. Contagion
  8. The Ides of March
  9. Dolphin Tale
  10. Rise of the Planet of the Apes

Real Steel looks like the dumbest movie ever made. Although, I do love that Fox football robot!
