Clippers, Cash Taken in Barber Shop Robbery
Joliet police say two men armed with a handgun ordered the store employee and patrons to lie on the floor while they made their getaway.
A barber/beauty shop lost more than $1,200 in equipment and its customers about $500 in cash when two armed robbers held up the business Thursday night, Joliet Police Cmdr. Rich Demick said.
The suspects, described as black males standing about 5-foot-10 and weighing about 170 pounds, entered Brooks Barber & Beauty Shop, 317 E. Cass St., at about 8:40 p.m., Demick said.
The men were armed with a semi-automatic handgun and ordered the store employee to put 14 pairs of clippers into a bag, he said. The employee and three patrons were then told to hand over their cash and cell phones and lay on the floor while the suspects fled, he said.
