Shorewood Pro Bowl Rewind
Shorewood is like on big all-star team of 15,000 people.
We have a confession to make: We here at the Shorewood Patch have never watched the Pro Bowl.
But that hasn't stopped us from understanding what it's all about. What it's all about is the best going up against the best. In Hawaii. Where it's beautiful. Almost as beautiful as Shorewood.
Yes, it's a collection of the sport's greatest players, all going at it on the same field. Unless, of course, those greatest players are going to be playing in the Super Bowl the following week. Or if they're hurt. Or if for some reason they were left off the Pro Bowl rosters, which are formed through largely subjective means in the the first place.
Come to think of it, the Pro Bowl's pretty stupid. Which is probably why we didn't watch it last Sunday, or any Sunday before that ever.
Actually, the Pro Bowl is nothing like Shorewood, which is not stupid in any sense whatsoever. Shorewood is more like the Super Bowl, which happens to be today. Shorewood is like the Super Bowl because both Shorewood and the Super Bowl are important. They mean something.
Yes, Shorewood is the Super Bowl of towns. It's undeniable.
At any rate, let's look at the things that happened last week in the Super Bowl of towns with another edition of the SHOREWOOD REWIND:
Monday
Child pornography trial starts
Shorewood piano tuner James Severson's child pornography trial began.
Tuesday
Missing child gone for another year
The 16th anniversary of Rachel Mellon's disappearance came and went.
Wednesday
Kiddie porn case conviction
That piano tuner from before? He was found guilty.
Thursday
The shadow knows
The groundhog said the winter's going to keep going for another six months. What winter?
Also Thursday
Vaughn trial date set
Christopher Vaughn's murder trial was set to start in August.
