Village Budget Includes Two New Hires for 2013-14
Big ticket items in Shorewood's budget for 2013-14 include two new hires, road resurfacing work and construction of a new water tower.
In a $26 million budget recently approved by the Shorewood village board, there are several big ticket items, according to a Sun-Times News Group report.
The village is making plans to spend $1.2 million in 2013-14 for road resurfacing, financing the construction of a water tower and creating two jobs, according to the report.
The village will be looking to add one position in public works and to add one patrolman to the Shorewood Police staff. Both positions were eliminated on a temporary basis during the recession, according to the Sun-Times News Group report.

Hey everybody-the recession's over and gas is down to $3.85 a gallon-let's hire some more uneeded village employees and try to jack your property taxes up some more to pay for it. More stupidity from our govt "leaders".

I know right...Those village trucks pretty much just drive around trying to look like they are busy. And of course we don't need that extra cop. There are plenty patrolling the area already.

careful- the Robert Jordan vs City of New London CT case says it is legal to discriminate during the police hiring process if you are "too smart"

CC as usual you comment on something you know nothing about. Why not come out of your trunk; like the east coast sniper and give me a call instead of taking everything you read here as gospel. We try to maintain a certain headcount of officers. Not only for our protection but also theirs! Dangerous to be called to a domestic and not have back-up. We lost one officer to Joliet recently. One is off on long term sick leave. We are not adding strength, we are replacing people which of course the paper didn't mention.

Sometimes winning the majority vote can mean 1of 2 things Richard. Your running unopposed, or all the idiots are on the ?ame side. Which would it be in your situation?
I would argue that I probably know as much as you or better. It certainly wasnt my idea to attempt and fail to build a viable "city center". Kudo's to you again for effective confiscation of wealth.
