The JCA Varsity Scholastic Bowl Team won 1st place in the South Metropolitan Scholastic Bowl League on January 22nd and finished 2nd place in the conference tournament held on February 2nd. This is the first time in Joliet Catholic Academy history that the Scholastic Bowl team has placed 1st in conference play.
JCA’s record was 8-1, falling only to St. Rita. Leading scorers for JCA were seniors Michael Bannon and Michael Fredrickson. Completing one or more competitions were seniors Laura Gillespie, Hunter Warning, Michael Kaminski, Claire O’Connor, Maddie Troha, Katie Schmig, and Luke Warpinski. Junior members were Mary Bui, Louis Bertani, Austin Emerson, Ryan Hippman, Dyllan Mattea, and Lucas Tyler. Sophomore Jeff Budz and freshman Kaci Courtright were named to the Conference All Star Team on the Junior Varsity level. Other schools in the conference included Fenwick, Br. Rice, Bishop McNamara, Marist, Mt. Carmel, Providence, St. Francis, and St. Laurence.
