The New Jersey Tanning Mom raises questions about how to parent.
So let's assume that Patricia Krentcil did not bring her 6-year-old daughter into the tanning bed. Her daughter's school nurse reportedly believes otherwise. Her attorney is asking the world not to judge a book by its cover. That's tough to do when this book is leather bound. Setting aside the fact that she looks like a baseball glove with lipstick and a wig, her situation calls to light a number of questions. If we, ourselves, are so misguided about something — regardless of what it may be — that calls into question our own parenting skills. For example, if Krentcil needs to tan for 12 minutes 20 times a month, as the salon owner claims she does, what kinds of messages is she sending to her daughter about appearance and self esteem? Not …

And, during the month of May, if you visit the store and drop an entry in our box, you could win a $25 gift card.
The school year is almost over. That means prom and graduations. And, for some, that means a need for chairs or tents or other supplies for parties. Channahon General Rental is the place to go for these supplies and more. We first told you about Channahon General Rental last year. The store is tucked in the industrial area behind The Feed Loft. Not only can you rent chairs and tables and such, but the business has snow cone machines and games that can be rented as well. Patch has its business card box at Channahon General Rental right now, so you can enter our contest and have a chance at a $25 gift card for the business at the end of May.

"Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol" owns Shorewood.
It's three weeks at the top now for Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. That's incredible! Shorewood loves this movie. We hope Redbox has their kiosks stocked with enough discs to keep the people of Shorewood satisfied. Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol has been in first for so long, we don't even know what else there is to say about it. So we'll just get on with it and give you the list:

Shorewood's got a serious case of being fantastic.
It's too bad Shorewood's greatness can't be bottled and shared with other, less great towns. Some scientist or doctor should figure out a way to do this, to maybe develop a Shorewood serum that can be injected into other towns, like a steroid or a vaccine. We can always hope. In the meantime let's take a look at the wonder of Shorewood with another SHOREWOOD REWIND: A British robot lady read the true crime sensation Fatal Vows: The Tragic Wives of Sergeant Drew Peterson, by all-around great guy Joe Hosey. Dave Wilson really liked The Raven. A distraught Shorewood woman has put up a $2,000 reward for the return of her missing cat, Casper. House Hunt! Burrito Express was the Mother's Day brunch Readers' Choice award winner.

You didn't really seem to have a strong preference on this one.
We asked you where you choose to take your mother for Mother's Day brunch when you take your mother someplace for Mother's Day brunch in Shorewood, and you didn't give us an answer. But that's OK. We'll just pick a place for you. We think you should choose to take your mother to Burrito Express for Mother's Day brunch. Why Burrito Express, you ask? Because we love Burrito Express, that's why. If we were a mother, that's where we would like to be taken for Mother's Day brunch. So there you have it. Congratulations, Burrito Express. You are our Readers' Choice award winner.
The Better Business Bureau warns that children are at risk of having their identities stolen.
Many adults are vigilant about protecting their identities from ruthless crooks bent on appropriating their information — but is looking after ones own self enough? "Many parents have no idea that their child is a victim (of identity theft), and this crime may go undetected for years-until the child applies for a job, loan, or rents their first apartment," according to a statement released by the Better Business Bureau. "Protecting a child's identity is easy and vital," said Steve J. Bernas, the president and chief executive officer of the Better Business Bureau serving Chicago and northern Illinois, including Shorewood. "Simply follow some steps the BBB provides, and you may save your child from hardships in the future," Bernas advised. …
