Bite Me, Shorewood: 3 Local Eateries That Hit the Spot
In the mood to eat out? Why not make a day of it?
1. BREAKFAST: Matty’s Grill & Pancake House, 955 Brookforest Drive, Shorewood. Nineteen reviews and four stars on Yelp. “Best Ever omelettes, and friendly service! We love going here for breakfast. I would have given 5 stars if wasn't for that split-plate charge.” — Bernice K. of Plainfield.
2. LUNCH: Mark’s On 59, 714 Cottage St., Shorewood. Eight reviews and four stars on Yelp. I recommend the Italian beef and sausage combo. You’ll have to pick between sweet peppers and hot giardiniera, though. Said Johnny T. of Minooka: “Quite surprised by this place. I didn't expect the inside to look so big and nice! There's even a bar in the back!”
3. DINNER: Skooters Roadhouse, 700 W. Jefferson St., Shorewood. Fourteen reviews and four stars on Yelp. I recommend brisket or pulled pork. But don’t take my word. Listen to Ryan S. of Romeoville: “I asked our server how the brisket was and she said it was her favorite thing on the menu. Her being a Texas gal, I couldn't not trust her judgement. So I ordered it and I was shocked when it came out. 7 thick cut long slices with a nice pink smoke ring all around with no sauce ... Served with two slices of Texas toast and a bottle of BBQ sauce on the side. (That's how brisket is supposed to be!)”
