One event is geared toward shredding old documents. The other will help you shed excess weight and shed a fear of falling. And both are for Seniors.
Senior Services of Will County is offering a 12-week Tai Chi program for Seniors 50-over that begins Tuesday (Aug. 6) and runs through Tuesday (Oct. 22). Beginner-level classes will focus on these goals: improving balance, reducing the likelihood of falls, preventing injuries and improving the quality of life.
Instruction will be provided by Wayne Jupiter of WDJ Productions. The classes will be from 10-11 a.m. each week at Will County Senior Services, 251 N. Center St., Joliet. The suggested fee is $30.
Senior Health & Shredding Fair
State Rep. Tom Cross’ Senior Health & Shredding Fair is from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday (Aug. 6) at St. Mary’s Immaculate Parish, 15629 S. Route 59, Plainfield. Guests are invited to enter through the commons doors. Admission is free and light refreshments will be served. The aim of the fair: collect old/used medication, recycle used cell phones, provide health screenings.
“I encourage senior citizens and their families to attend our senior fair,” Cross said in a news release on his website. “This year’s fair has numerous additions from previous years, including several free health screenings. We are especially pleased to offer the opportunity for seniors to shred confidential documents at the fair.”
