Amanda Mancke Files For State Legislature

Amanda Mancke Files Over 800 Signatures To Kick Off State Rep Campaign

Local Teacher Seeking To Replace Retiring Representative

Tom Cross in the 97th Legislative District

OSWEGO – Longtime Oswego resident Amanda Mancke filed over 800 signatures from local residents seeking a change in the way government is operated in Illinois.  Mancke filed the signatures along with additional paperwork necessary for citizens to appear on the official ballot as a candidate for public office.

“As a teacher new to the statewide political process, I was impressed by the efficiency with which the State Board of Elections process the hundreds of candidates seeking to represent their friends and neighbors in the General Assembly as State Senators, State Representatives and Judges.” said Mancke.   “If Illinois ran the rest of the government as smoothly as they run the political process, we wouldn’t be facing bankruptcy.”

Any person seeking to run for public office In Illinois has to prove he or she has enough community support to justify being placed on the ballot.  Support is established by the gathering of signatures from friends, neighbors, and supporters who believe an individual has the character, experience, and judgment necessary to govern responsibly.  The higher the responsibility of the office, the higher the signature requirement becomes.

“While I will continue to work behind the scenes to organize my supporters and raise funds for 2014, I will be giving the voters a break from politics until after the first of the year.  I will spend the holidays with my family and continue to prioritize the issues most important to me in preparation of the spirited public debate to come.” said Mancke.   “I wish all candidates and their families blessed holidays with their friends and family and a prosperous new year.”

Mancke is being challenged in the Republican primary by Rich Chapman and Mark Batinick.
