Troy Twp Highway Crew

Just wanted to give a big thanks to Troy Township Supervisor and his crew. They're right on top of things, whether it's leaf pick up, street cleaning, snow plowing and salting.  I have lived in Troy Township for 28 years and have been impressed by their good work.

Thanks again!

I will second that! Troy Township is great with our roads, plant and tree waste removal.

Puke- another reason why IL is a dying union nanny state- 8000 regional governing bodies in IL like all of these little townships suck the tax $ out of our pockets- PA is the next closest with 6000 and the next closest state after that has about 1500. Of course the pols are loathe to get rid of them because many got their political starts in them and they use them to get jobs for otherwise unemployable friends and family. Enjoy it while it lasts- because this socialist utopia can't last forever.

Seer, don't see what your comments have to do with the township highway commissioner's performance. I have had occasion to see other townships in the area and they simply don't hold a candle to what these guys do. Not engaging in the socialism comment because that's another conversation, say on a higher level of government.

My point is these townships should be shut down due to the overlapping bureaucracies and services and the resulting savings would number in the the 10s - if not 100s of millions if $. Everyone sits around wondering why they're broke and the state is broke and IL sucks for job creation in private industry when the answer is right in front of them- TAXES AND THE PUBLIC UNIONS/PENSIONS ARE KILLING THE STATE OF IL AND ITS MIDDLE/ WORKING CLASS AND THE BIG IL GOVT IS THE PROBLEM. Is it any surprise that one of UHaul's most popular truck rentals is LEAVING IL for people moving away.

Can't wait to get my own U-Haul to get the hell out of here! They must have a different guy plowing my area because for the past 5 years or so the guy doing it was half retarded or something. This year is better...not by much though.
seer January 03, 2014 at 10:43 AM
half-retarded? for a govt employee that makes him a genius.
karen January 05, 2014 at 12:16 AM
You both are ignorant individuals! You clearly don't have a child with a disability or friends who have a child diagnosed with one. My child was born with a rare syndrome (chromosomal). He has many delays and visits numerous medical specialists. Despite all this, he communicates as if he was gifted, sings and plays music as if he was a musician, is friendly and empathetic as a psychologist is, and has a phenomenal memory. So, do these discrepancies mean my son is "half-retarded"? Have you not realized that people no longer use this term due to how offensive it is? I understand you indirectly called someone the "R" word, but who's to say the driver wasn't delayed or disabled in some way? I'll be happy to contact U-Haul for you guys to relocate.
Infamous Steve January 05, 2014 at 11:14 AM
If the plow driver IS actually half retarded then he shouldn't have a license. Have you not realized there are people out there that are sick and tired of the politically correct BS! For the record a lot of people born with disabilities are VERY gifted in many ways. Also have you NOT realized retarded doesn't mean what it used to...along with gay, fag, queer, and so on most "insults" are no longer used to insult, but to describe something. Like when I said the guy must be half retarded...it is pretty much saying a child or even a monkey can do the job. So every time someone says retard or any variation of the word, it is NOT directed at you or your kid! It is a word...get over it!
Infamous Steve January 05, 2014 at 11:14 AM
I would need the 2nd largest U-Haul lol
seer January 05, 2014 at 12:58 PM
Karen is right- calling govt workers retarded is an insult to the retarded.

Seer and Infamous Steve are such negative people. My original post was made to compliment someone that I felt was doing a good job and appreciated. Now for the good part. I'm a retired county employee with 35 years of service. I'm curious to know what they do for a living being that they are so superior to everyone else.
seer January 05, 2014 at 11:16 PM
Don't worry about my negativity and just be satisfied that I (stupidly) pay my $12k a year in property taxes which means you aren't relegated to eating cat food in your retirement.
Lean towards right January 07, 2014 at 01:07 PM
Find it incredible that people that work for other entities act like they're the ones supporting retirees. Who pays for the services of companies like Com Ed, Waste Management etc? Everyone. Guess that includes government workers.
seer January 07, 2014 at 05:04 PM
Those 2 you named are monopolies- kind of like working for the govt- basically no competition and put it on autopilot and get your paycheck/pension. Try pulling that BS in a competitive industry like construction or a (non-union) factory and you'll get shown the door real quick.
Tony January 12, 2014 at 11:12 AM
I have lived in Troy Township long enough to see 3 generations of the Ward family hold the position of Road Comissioner and they have all done an outstanding job, looking foward to the 4th generation.
seer January 12, 2014 at 11:28 AM
Tony is right- it's like a legalized mafia- once the family gets in power they hold on to it for dear life to milk us for all they can(cue the theme from the Godfather)

Thank you Tony for your input. Seer, they do a good job. If that doesn't meet your satisfaction, why don't you run against them?
