Best Pizza in Shorewood: And the Winner Is ...
More than 200 ballots were cast after residents took a blind taste test and sampled pizza from three Shorewood restaurants on Thursday night in Towne Center Park.
More than 200 ballots were cast. All the free pizza samples were scarfed down in less an one hour.
And, then, the winner of the People’s Choice Best Pizza in Shorewood contest was announced on Thursday night during a Family Fun series event in Towne Center Park.
Fat Ricky’s outpolled two others to gain the distinction of Best Pizza in Shorewood. Savarino’s placed second in fan balloting, followed by Pizza for U.

In a blind taste test, residents sampled pizza from all three local restaurants, then voted for their favorite: A, B or C. And the winner was “A” — Fat Ricky’s.
The Living Proof of Shorewood kept the crowd entertained with a live performance in the band shell. The band is made up of Jeff Wold (drums), Tim Slabaugh (lead guitar, vocals), Bill Sarter (bass) and Tim Costa (lead guitar, vocals).

Slabaugh and Sarter are Shorewood residents. Wold and Costa are from Channahon. Wold is chief of the Channahon Police Department.
