Can You Help Jullo, the K9 Search & Rescue Dog?

Proceeds from fifth annual Hugs for Hounds Easter egg hunt will go to support the Forest Preserve District of Will County's new 'officer.'

Did you know Easter egg hunts are for dogs too?

It's true.

The fifth annual doggie Easter egg hunt—Hugs for Hounds—is at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30, at Hammel Woods Dog Park in Shorewood. Cost is $5 per dog. Proceeds will go to support Jullo, the Forest Preserve District of Will County's new K9 search and rescue officer, according to a district news release.

Dogs will search for Easter eggs hidden around the dog park—filled with special prizes or dog treats. Dogs must be on a leash and accompanied by their owners at all times.

Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. on the day of the event. The egg hunt begins at 11 a.m. Pre-registration is encouraged: Visit ReconnectWithNature.org to download the registration form.

The program is hosted by the Forest Preserve District of Will County and Shorewood H.U.G.S., a chairty organization that supports other organizations. Shorewood Family Dential Care serves as an event sponsor.

A dog park permit is not required to attend Hugs for Hounds—but permits will be available for purchase at the program. Donations to Julio's care, which includes handlings and trainings, also may be made by calling Shorewood Hugs (815-722-8193).
