Deadline Approaches for Entries in Cream of the Crop Photo Contest

Illinois students between the ages of 8-18 are eligible to enter their own photos in a contest that State Treasurer Dan Rutherford says showcases "unique angles of agriculture on camera."

Illinois State Treasurer Dan Rutherford has issued a reminder there are only a couple weeks left for students to enter the 2013 Cream of the Crop Photo Contest.

The treasurer's office is accepting electronic submissions for the Cream of the Crop Photo Contest from Illinois students ages 8-18. The deadline for all entries is July 12, according to a news release issued by Rutherford's office.

Top photographs will be chosen in three competition categories: ages 8-10, 11-14 and 15-18.

Each student is allowed to submit up to two photos for this contest. To read all the rules, terms and legal conditions associated with this contest, visit www.Treasurer.IL.Gov.

"I have always been an advocate for the environment and conservation," stated Rutherford in the news release. "Coming from an ag community, I have a profound appreciation for agriculture here in Illinois.

"I think a great way to get a picturesque glimpse of agriculture in our great state is through the eyes of young people. This contest gives us the opportunity to see crops, livestock, farms and pastures through the students' lenses as they capture their unique angles of agriculture on camera."
