National Weather Service Issues Severe Thunderstorm Warning

Gusts expected to reach 70-mph in storm.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of Grundy and Will counties.

The severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 6:45 p.m. Monday (June 24).

According to the NWS, at 5:18 p.m. severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Rockford Airport to Kingston to Maple Park to Yorkville to Morris and moving east at 60 mph. The storms will be capable of producing wind gusts reaching 70 mph.

The NWS said to expect considerable tree damage and damage to mobile homes, roofs and outbuildings.
