Attention book lovers and spring cleaners, this is the weekend you've been waiting for: Will County's 2013 Book Recycling & Document Destruction Event.

From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Joliet's Pilcher Park Nature Center, you can not only get rid of all of the old books cluttering up the house, you can pick up a whole new batch to take home -- for free.

The event is sponsored by the Will County Land Use Department as a means of keeping books out of the landfill and getting them into the hands of people who want to "recycle" them by bringing them home.

Residents are also invited to bring unwanted paper documents to be shredded and recycled. An "affidavit of destruction" will be provided upon request.

Pilcher Park is located off Cass Street on Highland Park Drive. Signs will direct drivers to the nature center.
