'Rialto Idol' Contest Comes to Joliet

Live auditions for "Rialto Idol" and "Rialto Idol Jr." are June 22; finalists will compete Aug. 2 or 3 at the Joliet theater. The winners have the chance to be an opening act at an upcoming concert.

Have you ever dreamed of singing on the legendary Rialto Square Theatre stage?  Have you ever wondered what it would be like to look out into the audience and hear the applause? Now is your chance to make this a reality.

The Rialto Square Theatre will host open live auditions on Sunday, June 22 for Rialto Idol and Rialto Idol Jr. singing competitions.  

Rialto Idol/Rialto Idol Jr. in a singing battle in which 20 finalists in each group will compete to be crowned the next Rialto Idol!  

The Rialto Idol Jr. contest will be broken down into two age categories for kids ages 6-12 and ages 13-16.  

Rialto Idol will consist of participants ages 17 and older. Audition times will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for Rialto Idol Jr. and 3 to 7 p.m. for Rialto Idol, at the theater, 15 E. Van Buren St.  

Anyone wishing to audition MUST register online at www.rialtosquare.com and have audition fees paid by Thursday, June 19.  An audition fee of $10 for Rialto Idol Jr. and $20 for Rialto Idol is required. Late entries will be accepted on June 22 during the last hour of audition times, space permitting. Cash only accepted for late entries.

Finalists will compete August 2 (Rialto Idol) or 3 (Rialto Idol Jr.) during the Rialto Idol finale event at the Rialto Square Theatre.  

Cash prizes will be awarded to each age category and the chance to be an opener at an upcoming concert (subject to artist contract).
