The Timbers’ spine-tingling annual Spook House raises more than $2,000 for local charities

Hundreds of families enjoyed getting scared out of their wits at annual fundraiser Halloween Spook House at the Timbers of Shorewood. More than $2,000 was raised for Kiwanis Club of Shorewood and the Alzheimer's Association.

Hundreds of community families enjoyed getting scared out of their wits at the 6th annual Halloween Spook House which took place Oct. 26 and 27, at The Timbers of Shorewood retirement community, 1100 N. River Road, Shorewood.

From $3 and $5 Spook House entrance fees, a total of $2,044 was raised. The funds will be split and donated to the Kiwanis Club of Shorewood and the Alzheimer’s Association.

The Kiwanis Club of Shorewood is committed to making a difference in the community, the region and the world. Its members have provided financial support for, and an enthusiastic 'Helping Hand" to many community organizations.

The Alzheimer’s Association consists of over 70 chapters serving communities across the U.S. It is the leading, and largest, private nonprofit funder of Alzheimer’s research. The global voluntary health organization works on all levels to enhance care and support for those affected with Alzheimer’s and other leading dementias.

“Our Spook House was bigger and spookier this year than it has ever been!” said Faith Ann Varga, executive director of the Timbers and president of the Kiwanis Club of Shorewood.  “It was wonderful to have so many participants and see so many attendees. Everyone had a great time and we raised funds for two inspiring community organizations.”

The Timbers of Shorewood is a rental retirement community which provides independent and assisted living apartments as well as a full schedule of activities and services. Furnished apartments are also available for a short-term stay - a weekend, a week, a month or longer.
