Will County Forest Preserve District Offers 6.5-Mile Kayak Trip

Adult trip departs from Frederick's Grove in McKinley Woods in Channahon on Saturday, May 11.

The Forest Preserve District of Will County is partnering with Kayak Morris to offer the I&M Canal and Rivers Paddle Trip. The 6.5-mile adult trip will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 11.

Cost is $55.

Paddlers will meet at Frederick's Grove in McKinley Woods in Channahon. They will travel the I&M Canal from McKinley Woods to Channahon State Park, according to a news release issued by the Forest District of Will County.

Then, after a short portage, kayakers will paddle down the DuPage River to McKinley Woods—Kerry Sheridan Grove—and stop for lunch. The trip will continue downstream back to the starting point, according to the district news release.

Frederick's Grove in McKinley Woods is located on McKinley Road, about 1/2 mile south of U.S. 6 in Channahon.
