Common-sense approach to a better economy and renewed prosperity

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Republican 11th Congressional District candidate Bert Miller today released "The Miller Plan for Jobs," a comprehensive initiative to create jobs and rebuild the nation's economy. "It's time that opportunity shines and our economy gets back on track so that every American can find a job, raise a family and achieve the American dream," Miller said.

The Miller Plan offers a detailed blueprint to tackle government spending, taxes, healthcare, energy, trade, transportation, education, immigration and government regulations. "This is a common-sense approach to a better economy and renewed prosperity," Miller said.

Topping the list is passing a balanced budget that is not contingent on new taxes and fees. Miller would also call for lowering the corporate tax rate to 25 percent and repealing estate and gift taxes. Repealing Obamacare or, at the very least, completely overhauling it, is also among Miller's recommendations.

When it comes to energy, Miller favors a comprehensive portfolio of resources, including nuclear, coal, natural gas, solar, hydroelectric and wind that would result in competitive energy costs. The Miller plan would also push for opening new markets for American products, which would help lower prices for consumers while creating good, high-paying manufacturing jobs in the United States.

Miller wants to see a long-term Transportation Bill to provide critical capital for our nation's roads and bridges. He favors building the Illiana Expressway that would relieve traffic congestion that costs an estimated $78 billion per year in wasted time and fuel.

The Miller Plan would expand educational opportunities by empowering parents with choice, increasing early childhood funding and improving access to college and job training. Miller also supports comprehensive Immigration reform that begins with securing the nation's borders. His plan would also cut red tape and onerous laws that impede Americans' ability to build, grow and compete globally.

"I'm running for Congress for two primary reasons," Miller said. "We need to balance the federal budget and get our debt under control while creating an economy that supports job growth and capital investment. This plan, if implemented, would go a long way toward reaching these goals."

Throughout his career, Miller has been a leader and strong proponent of economic development through common-sense, pro-business reforms. His business, Phoenix Closures, makes plastic lids and caps for bottles and jars, all with American-made products and equipment.

In addition to his business experience, Miller has served on the boards of Hales Franciscan High School, a South Side institution dedicated to helping disadvantaged youth prepare for higher education, and the Big Shoulders Fund, a group with a mission to provide support to Catholic schools in the neediest areas of inner city Chicago.
