Friaco's to Move to Shorewood

The restaurant that is now located on Essington Road in Joliet will be moving to the building formally occupied by Babe's Hot Dogs on Route 59.

You may have noticed the work going on at the building that used to be Babe's Hot Dogs second location on Route 59. Friaco's Mexican Restaurant, which is currently located at 1121 Essington Road in Joliet, will be moving to the Shorewood location at 1321 Route 59 in July.

In other business news:

  • St. Mary Magdalene Parish, 127 S. Briggs St. (one-half mile north of I80) in Joliet, will host the St. Vincent de Paul Society Clothing and Housewares Collection from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 2. They will be accepting clean clothing of any season, shoes and accessories, linens, blankets, and household items of bakeware, glasses, dishes, utensils and small working appliances will be accepted. They will also accept recyclable electronics, including computers, keyboards, monitors, printers, old TV’s, radios, stereo equipment and any electrical items may be dropped-off. A truck will be available in the Church parking lot to receive your donations. Furniture will not be accepted on June 3, but you can call the St. Vincent de Paul Society directly at 630-231-4658 to schedule a pick-up of large items at your home.
  • Joliet Area Community Hospice will be hosting the 7th Annual Timmy’s Garden Walk from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., June 22. More than 10 local area gardens in Joliet, Lockport and Plainfield will be showcased rain or shine.  The 7th Annual Timmy’s Garden Walk proceeds will benefit the pediatric hospice and palliative care programs at Joliet Area Community Hospice.   • Wags 2 Wishes Animal Rescue needs volunteers for an event at Double J Sports Bar in Joliet on July 21. This is an afternoon and evening event with music by Big Dog Mercer, food, raffles, 50/50 and more. For more information, call Terri at 815-514-3199
