'Hu' Goes to the No. 1 — in Shorewood!

Shorewood's got a new favorite Redbox movie rental.

The Redbox top 10 list for is a fickle thing.

It's hard to explain how some movies cling to the No. 1 spot for so long whilst others vanish from the top of the chart after a stay of only a week.

Puss in Boots was one of those movies. Here today, gone tomorrow. It was replaced by Hugo, which Shorewood Patch in-house movie critic reviewed not too long ago. Here's Dave's take:

"When I first saw the previews indicating that Martin Scorsese was producing and/or directing a kids’ movie, I was pleased. After all, Marty has been responsible for some of the great cinematic masterpieces of our lifetime. Who wouldn’t want to see an absolute master, the guy who brought us Taxi Driver, Goodfellas and The Last Waltz, stretch out and do something for young people? Maybe Marty’ll throw in a cameo from DeNiro or Liotta, trot out a Stones tune or wink at us with a good-natured jab at Catholicism, something to keep the adults chuckling at least.

But Hugo doesn’t need any irony to keep the grown-ups interested. It’s a great movie, visually enhanced in 3D if you can catch it that way."

So go rent Hugo. If you don't like it, blame Dave.

And while you're at it, check out some of the other movies on the Redbox top 10 list.

You could see Hugo for the award winning spectacle. Or you could go see it for the heart. Perhaps you will be astounded by the attention to detail by the master craftsmen who made each frame interesting. Or if you’re like me see it because it’s entertaining. It’s about time entertaining movies are again appreciated. Hey, Dave thanks for the pick.
