Let Them Eat Pie (And Hot Dogs)

A Plainfield man took first in two eating contests at the Shorewood Crossroads Festival.

Would you believe the winner of the Hot Dog Eating Contest was also the winner of the Shorewood Crossroads Festival Pie Eating Contest?

Bud Rosendahl of Plainfield was the winner in the hot dog eating contest for those 18-years and older and also in the 17-years and older division of the pie eating contest.

Rosendahl ate a record 10 and a half hot dogs and was the winner of a $50 Babe’s Jumbo Hot Dogs gift certificate and a T-shirt.

Tim Reilly, owner of Babe’s, said the most hot dogs any contestant ever ate was nine.

“They usually eat five or six,” he noted.

This is the third year that Babe’s Jumbo Hot Dogs has sponsored the contest. There seven contestants. Each participant received a $5 Babe’s Jumbo Hot Dogs gift certificate and a Babe’s T-Shirt.

Other winners in the pie eating contest included Vinny Ringelsten of Shorewood. He was the only contestant in the 5 and under division of the contest and thus was the winner without exerting any effort.

Cayden Burger, of Shorewood was the winner in the 6 to 10 age division; and Torie Trenter, of Oswego was the winner in the 11 to 16 years age division.

There were a total of 28 contestants in the various age divisions of the event. The Pie Eating Contest was sponsored by .
