Shorewood Mariano's to Open This Month

The fresh market is taking over the former Dominick's site.

The former Shorewood Dominick's store, 950 Brookforest, will get new life this month as it reopens as a Mariano's.

The company on Wednesday announced the store will open at 6 a.m. Tuesday, July 15.

After Dominick's closed its Chicago-area stores, the Shorewood location was one of 11 shuttered stores purchased by Mariano's parent company Roundy's.

Other Dominick's-turned-Mariano's locations have also reopened, including stores in Aurora, Chicago, Northfield and Lake Zurich.

Roundy’s, based in Milwaukee, has been opening Mariano’s since 2010 in the Chicago area. The stores offer a wide array of perishables and prepared food, piano music, sushi, oyster bar and other upscale food dazzlements to get customers in the mood to browse for the toilet paper and peanut butter.
