Local Business Participating in Back-to-School Supply Drive

A local business is teaming with Boys & Girls Clubs of America and teen actor Jake T. Austin to put school supplies in the hands of disadvantaged children in the area.

Staples, located at 992 Brook Forest Ave. in Shorewood, is participating in the sixth annual Staples for Students program, a national school supply drive to help kids get the tools they need to build great futures, according to a news release.

From now until Sept. 28, Staples customers can donate $1 or more at their local Staples store with 100 percent of the proceeds benefitting local students at the George Werden Buck Boys & Girls Club.

Austin is lending his name and face to the campaign in hopes of creating a buzz with teens.

"I'm so excited to team up with Staples and Boys & Girls Clubs of America for this great cause," he said in the news release. "I can't imagine starting school without the right supplies, so I'm rallying fellow teens to help make a difference in their communities by making sure students have the essential supplies they need to succeed."
