The public is invited to a birthday party at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, at The Timbers of Shorewood retirement community, 1100 N. River Rd., Shorewood.
Vocalist Marvina Bowker will entertain residents and the public as part of the birthday party celebration in honor of residents with November birthdays.
Bowker started her career in New Jersey at Albert Hall. In 1994, she won the Ms. National Senior Citizen Talent Division. She moved to the Joliet area where she started singing with musicians such as T.T. Nelson’s Big Band and the Brass Track Jazz Orchestra.
She has performed at venues like Earl’s Supper Club, the Empress Casino and the Festival of Trees in Joliet. Bowker has also opened for Anne Murray at the Rialto Theatre.
The Timbers of Shorewood is a rental retirement community which provides independent and assisted living apartments and a full schedule of activities and services. Furnished apartments are also available for a short-term stay - a weekend, a week, a month or longer.
