Patrick Woods brings Broadway Tunes to the Timbers

Patrick Woods will play the piano for residents and the public in the piano lounge at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at The Timbers of Shorewood, 1100 N. River Rd., Shorewood.

Woods, a retired senior from sales in Joliet, loves sharing his piano expertise with others. He has been playing for more than 50 years as avocation only.

At the Timbers he will be playing Broadway tunes and music from the films of the 1950s.

“It makes me feel good to provide things for others,” Woods said. “I really enjoy the residents.”

Woods was very inspired by the late piano virtuoso Arthur Rubenstein. In fact, while in his 20s, Woods saw Rubenstein perform at Orchestra Hall at least ten times.

“They used to sell stage seats,” he said, “and I remember sitting in a semi-circle around Rubenstein. I loved the romantic way he played.”

The Timbers of Shorewood is a rental retirement community which provides independent and assisted living apartments and a full schedule of activities and services. Furnished apartments are also available for a short-term stay - a weekend, a week, a month or longer.
