Child Born with Spinal Cord Problems Needs Rehab

Her family needs your help. So do friends caring for a coma patient, a man who needs a wheelchair and a soldier-dad having trouble with the VA.

Battling for a Baby'sĀ Health

Chloe is the most amazing 2-year-old around, says her mom, Anita Ibarra Bunce. The girl was born with a rare condition called Caudal Regression Syndrome. Her spinal cord did not form completely, causing problems with her bladder and bowel. She is catheterized intermittently and uses laxatives for bowel control. She also has mobility problems. She has had physical therapy since birth. This summer, she began treatment at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago.

Here are four more GoFundMe campaigns currently seeking donations in the Joliet area.

  • Cynthia Arellano, who worked two jobs, suffered bleeding on the brain last month and was put into a medically induced coma last. Her friends are raising money to pay her mortgage.
  • Marc McCarthy has Spinal Muscular Atrophy and needs a special wheelchair.
  • Jane Ebenroth White says her dad, "Coach Ebenroth," is having trouble with the Veterans Administration and her dad's Vietnam War-related health problems.
  • Joliet Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity is raising Toys for Tots money.
