(New Lenox) Donald Sebestyen, Principal of Providence Catholic High School is pleased to announce that senior Jason Koth of Homer Glen earned first chair saxophone in the All-State Honor Band at the 2013 Illinois Music Educators Conference in Peoria, IL, which was held in late January. Koth was among 2,200 students in IMEA District 1 that auditioned for the District Festival in November 2012. His outstanding performance qualified him to perform at State, where he and the other top Illinois saxophone players auditioned. Koth is the fourth student in the school’s history to be selected to perform at the IMEA All-State Conference.
The honor roll student is a member of the National Honor Society and is an Illinois State Scholar. Koth has been a member of the PCHS Jazz Ensemble, playing both guitar and saxophone. In addition, he was a featured soloist for the Spirit of Providence Marching Band, lead soloist in the Concert Band and a leader of the Providence Saxophone Quartet.
