Joliet West High School Contest Play Ends Season on a High Note

The Joliet West High School Contest Play earned a number of awards this year with their production of Arthur Miller's "The Crucible."

 

The Joliet West High School Contest Play earned a number of awards this year with their production of Arthur Miller’s “The Crucible.”

Set in the late 1600s, “The Crucible” tells the story of the Salem Witch Trials that took place in Massachusetts Bay.

This year, the group earned an Excellent Rating at the SWSC Festival, along with a “Tech-Cellence” plaque for set design and crew teamwork and safety. Three students, Joseph Buechel, Zach Manos and Madison Schlegel, earned SWSC Festival All Cast Medals.

At Sectionals, the team took fifth place. Joseph Buechel (John Proctor), Madison Schlegel (Elizabeth Proctor), Max Rosa (Giles Corey) and Katie Koncel (Abigail Williams) earned All Cast Medals.

Cast members in this year’s contest play included: Joseph Buechel, Jordan Dominguez, Cesar Guerrero, Madison Hester, Zachary Klima, Katherine Koncel, Zachary manos, Viridiana Marquez, Jamie Nies, Tyler Noe, Maxwell Rosa, Madison Schlegel, Kathryn Strapp and Adriana Vaca.

“I’m very proud of how the students performed this season,” said Director of Contest Play and Joliet West teacher, Kevin Boles.
