Joliet West High School’s spring musical, “Crazy For You,” will hit the stage next month from April 12-14. Based on the book by Ken Ludwig, “Crazy For You” is a high-energy comedy featuring the 1930’s character, Bobby Child (Cody Talkie), whose dream in life is to dance.

Since the end of January, Timothy DeBoer, Director of Vocal Music at Joliet West, and his cast and crew of 75 students have been rehearsing for the April productions.

“This year, the show includes a lot of tap dance, and that has been a new experience for a lot of the students,” DeBoer said. Lori Bowen of La Danse Academie in Joliet is the choreographer for the production.

Douglas Hawksworth, son of former JWHS teacher Myrna Laugier, is creating the set for the production. DeBoer has also received assistance from parents, former alumni of the music program, and his student director.

“AJ Galli and Elizabeth Darlin, two recent alums, have spent their spring breaks painting, decorating and helping with the set,” DeBoer said. “And Elyssa Krmpotich has done a fantastic job as student director. I am so fortunate to have help from students like her.”

The musical will be held in the Joliet West High School Auditorium located at 401 N. Larkin Avenue in Joliet. The dates and times for the production are as follows:
