After a long year of hard work, 10 students and eight teachers from Joliet West High School raised $1,000 and become official sponsors of the 2013 Joliet Relay for Life.

The students and teachers made and distributed over 400 Ladybug “Addison” buttons, in honor of a seven-year-old Joliet girl who is battling liver cancer.  The group also conducted an advisory donation drive, painted a mural, and put together 43 paper quilt squares to raise Cancer awareness.

“We were able to accomplish so much this year, and I am so excited that we raised enough money to become official sponsors for this life-changing event,” said Joliet West High School Academy of Arts & Communication teacher Kristen
Koppers. “I am proud of the students for wanting to make a difference.”
