Joliet West High School Teacher Named Education Director of MBC Museum Chicago

Joliet West High School Social Studies teacher Doug Fowler was recently named Education Director of the Museum of Broadcast Communications (MBC) in Chicago.

His new position allows him to continue teaching students at Joliet West High School, while working with the museum to implement new educational programs to revolutionize Social Studies programs in America.

"I'm extremely honored and excited to be given this opportunity,” said Fowler.  “In my role as Education Director, I hope to build upon the professional growth that I have gained throughout my years at JTHS."

As Education Director of MBC, Fowler will work on program implementation that directly relates to the instruction he delivers to students at Joliet West.  For example, he will incorporate the MBC Docufest program, which is intended to improve reading, writing, listening, and speaking abilities for middle school and high school students through the use of United States history.

 Fowler comes to this new position with a wealth of experience.  He has earned numerous awards and recognitions from various educational organizations, including the Joliet Township High School Board of Education, and was selected to speak at the State Standards in College and Career Readiness Conference in Florida.

"America's classroom teachers have a strong advocate in Doug Fowler,” said MBC Founder/President & CEO Bruce Dumont.  “Doug is a visionary educator who will merge the massive MBC archives with online lesson plans, tied to national standards. The program will bring excitement to the teaching of social studies."

The MBC actively works to preserve and present historic and contemporary radio and TV content.
