JT CENTRAL VETERANS CEREMONY – NOVEMBER 8, 2013 – 2 p.m.

Monday, November 11, is Veterans Day. Area veterans deserve this day in recognition of their service to our country. This is an invitation for area residents to join the JT Central High School staff, faculty and students, along with District 204 administrators, as they salute veterans in a poignant ceremony on Friday afternoon, November 8, at 2 p.m. in the Central auditorium. This is an opportunity to demonstrate our deepest respect for the many contributions and sacrifices made by the veterans and the military personnel currently serving who continue to protect our freedom.

Included in the hour-long ceremony will be the ROTC Cadets, the Joliet Central Band and choir performing patriotic selections, the reading of the poignant poem “In Flanders Field,” a musical tribute to each branch of the service, and a reading of “Duty, Honor, Country” by the Central ROTC Commander Phil Jayko.

Veterans to be recognized include those from several conflicts including WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Afghanistan, Kuwait, and Iraq. Each will be introduced individually at the ceremony. However, words alone cannot express fully how JTHS District 204 feels about the service each veteran has given the country.

Following the ceremony, JT Central will host a reception in the library for veterans, military personnel, families, friends and special guests. A panel discussion with the veterans will be conducted by JT Central students after the reception.

If you would like to have your special veteran honored at the ceremony, please contact Lynne Lichtenauer, Director of Alumni Relations, by phone at (815) 727-6763 or by email: llichtenauer@jths.org.
