JWHS Group Interpretation Attends State Competition

Student members of the Joliet West High School Group Interpretation placed 2nd in Sectionals and made it to the IHSA State Competition in Springfield on March 27-29. The group performed “Finding Nemo.”

Group Interpretation (GI) is a production that tells a story without the aid of props, costumes, or scenery. Shows must be less than 30 minutes in length and include mainly off-stage focus. There are 17 cast members in Joliet West GI directed by instructor Kristin Blake.

“Group interpretation is a test of togetherness. Not only do you get the chance to compete, but you have the opportunity to grow, learn and get to know your fellow cast members. Being able to compete and make it to State this year has been an honor,” said student cast member Madison Schlegel.

“The ‘Finding Nemo’ cast consistently remembered to “just keep swimming” and ended up “swimming” all the way to state.  They made their dream come true, and for that, I am immensely proud of them,” said Blake.
