JWHS Students Host Party for Retirement Home Residents
Students in the Health and Medicine and Human Services Academy at Joliet West High School recently held a birthday party for residents of a local nursing home. The residents of Lakewood Living Center in Plainfield were treated to an afternoon of games, crafts, and of course birthday cake. They were also given gifts of JWHS spirit wear.
“I am impressed by the perseverance and compassion of our students. The did an amazing job with all the details, from developing the idea to executing the event. They proudly represented our school, as well as the Human Services and Health and Medicine academies,” said Joliet West Academy Coordinator Dan Markun. “The residents were very excited and enjoyed the company of our students, some of them proudly wore their spirit wear shirts to dinner that night.”
