Illinois State Senator Pat McGuire (D43) was “Principal for the Day” at Joliet West High School on Jan. 14.
McGuire visited American Government and Economics classes and spoke to students about the voting process and other aspects of being a state senator.

“Senator McGuire's visit was a great opportunity for students to meet and learn about some of our more local government officials,” said Joliet West High School Teacher Lisa Fike. “We focus so much attention on the government in Washington that students sometimes forget about all the governing that happens right here in Illinois which often affects students even more immediately than that done in Washington DC. Senator McGuire's discussion of the new hands free cell phone law is a great example of this.”
