Alleged Cop-Attacker Again Allegedly Attacks Cop

A Shorewood man was arrested following a confrontation with the police.

A man arrested last year for allegedly fighting with sheriff's deputies — and stabbing one in the shoe — again tangled with the county cops, police said.

Michael Scott Carey, 47, of 24460 Woodridge Way "assaulted" a deputy and — after he was subdued and restrained — kicked out the back window of a squad car, according to a statement released by the sheriff's department.

Deputies had headed to Carey's home about 8:45 p.m. after a couple 911 hangup calls came from the residence, police said.

When the deputies got there, "victims stated that Carey had been drinking and was very agitated," police said. "Victims stated that prior to calling 911 they had been inside a vehicle heading back home when Carey began kicking the back of the driver’s seat and making threatening comments."

After Carey and the unidentified victims arrived at the Woodridge Way address, Carey got out of the car and kicked the side of the vehicle several times, damaging it, police said.

When the deputies tried to collar Carey he started scuffling with them, police said, and once they got him inside the squad car he kicked out the back window.

Monday night's episode was Carey's second alleged dust-up with the county cops in seven months.

In July, Carey allegedly got into it with two deputies and stabbed one in the shoe. He was charged with aggravated battery to a peace officer, aggravated assault, and possession of a weapon by a felon.

Carey was allegedly carrying a Ruger .357-caliber revolver at the time of his July arrest. He was reportedly forbidden to possess the weapon due to a 2002 felony conviction in LaSalle County for damaging property.

Carey's July case is still pending in Will County court. He was out on bond when he was arrested Monday night.

Carey remained in custody at the Will County jail Tuesday on charges of aggravated battery to a peace officer, knowingly damaging property, criminal damage to property and violation of bail bond.
