Drunken driving arrest

A sheriff's deputy collared a Joliet man driving drunk in Shorewood, police said.

Luis Valle, 41, of 373 Western Ave. was charged with driving under the influence, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, driving while license suspended and speeding following a traffic stop near the corner of Cottage and Jefferson streets.

Valle was transported to the Will County jail. He remains in custody and is being held on a $2,000 bond.

Smash and dash

A crook smashed the passenger-side window of a semi-tractor parked at a business on the Interstate 55 frontage road and once inside managed to remove the entire dashboard, police said.

The bold thief struck at Rush Transport.

After making his way into the cab of the semi-tractor, he or she detached and absconded with the whole dashboard, including all guages and wires, and the brain-box computer.
