Coal City Woman in Channahon Killer Crash Goes to Court

A Coal City woman jailed in connection with a fatal wreck on Route 6 was arraigned Tuesday.

A Coal City woman facing felony charges in connection with a deadly wreck on Route 6 in Channahon was arraigned Tuesday morning.

Tiffany Unland, 30, of 190 E. Timber Drive was arrested following the Aug. 31 crash that claimed the life of 46-year-old Anthony B. Calhoun.

Unland has been locked up in the Will County jail on charges of aggravated driving under the influence. If convicted, Unland is looking at up to seven years in prison.

On Tuesday, Unland's bond was dropped from $200,000 to $120,000. She only needs to post $12,000 of that $120,000 to get out of jail.

If Unland does manage to scrape together the $12,000 for her release, she must wear a SCRAM alcohol-monitoring bracelet on her leg pending the resolution of her case.

Unland crossed into oncoming traffic on Route 6 a quarter mile east of Interstate 55 and plowed head-on into a sedan driven by Calhoun, police said.

Calhoun, who officials said last lived in Palatine, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Unland is due back in court for a pretrial hearing on Oct. 23.
