Cops: Shorewood Man Caught With 6-Shooter

The county cops collared a Shorewood man with a loaded revolver under his car seat, police said.

A man pulled over for failing to signal a turn was jailed for carrying a loaded revolver, police said.

Donald Morgan, 18, of 100 Ravinia Drive was booked into the Will County jail on a charge of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon in connection with his run-in with sheriff's deputies Saturday night.

The deputies took Morgan into custody during a traffic stop near the intersection of Nobes Avenue and May Street in Lockport Township shortly before 9:30 p.m.

"He was extremely nervous during the routine stop and asked to step out of the vehicle," said sheriff's department spokeswoman Kathy Hoffmeyer.

A deputy spotted a loaded Smith & Wesson .38 Special under the driver’s seat of the car Morgan was driving, police said. Morgan, who does not possess a Firearm Owners' Identification card, was arrested on the felony gun charge.

The revolver was loaded with six bullets, police said.

Deputies let Morgan off with a warning for his alleged traffic violation but he had to spend a night in jail before posting bond for his release the next day, court records show.
