Cops: Shorewood Man Jailed After Chase

A Shorewood man fled from and then charged a Joliet cop, police said.

A man led a Joliet officer on a short chase and took a run at the cop after finally pulling over, police said.

But the fight went out of 28-year-old David Gregory pretty quickly when the officer kicked him and brandished a Taser, police said.

Gregory was taken into custody and jailed on a charge of aggravated fleeing, as well as various traffic violations.

Gregory, who reportedly resides at 24665 Manor Drive, failed three field sobriety tests but did not smell of alcohol, according to police. The results of blood testing performed on Gregory are pending.

A Joliet police officer reportedly tried to pull Gregory over near the intersection of West Jefferson Street and McDonald Avenue after a citizen alerted the law to an erratic driver.

But Gregory didn't stop, police said, and instead blew through two redlights on Jefferson before heading north on Interstate 55.

Gregory gave up his flight at Black Road, but after he got out of his pickup truck he charged the officer, police said. Gregory reportedly took a kick and got a look at the cop's Taser, then stopped his attack.
