Crash in Minooka Leaves 1 Dead, 4 Others Hurt

CBS2 Chicago reported that 15-year-old Elizabeth Daniels was killed in a collision at McLindon Road and U.S. 6 on Sunday night.

A 15-year-old girl was killed in a crash that also injured four others Sunday night in Minooka, according to a report on CBS2 Chicago.

Elizabeth Daniels was sitting in the back seat of an Infiniti when the driver failed to stop at a stop sign at McLindon Road and U.S. 6, according to the report. She was killed when the Infinit was struck by a Honda Civic.

Another girl who was sitting next to Daniels was seriously injured, according to CBS2 Chicago. The driver of the Infiniti, Patrick O'Connell, and another front-seat passenger were treated and released, according to the report.

CBS2 Chicago reported the driver of the Civic was also injured, but the extent of her injuries was not known.

According to the report, O’Connell was ticketed for disobeying a stop sign, failing to reduce speed to avoid a collision and no insurance. CBS2 Chicago reported that police said there were no immediate indications of drugs or alcohol factoring into the deadly crash.

The Morris Daily Herald reported that Daniels was a Minooka Community High School student who lived in Channahon. Minooka police chief Justin Meyer said O'Connell, 17, attends Joliet West High School in the report.
