Darien Man's Sex Case Put on Hold

A Darien man facing charges he carried on a sexual relationship with a teenage girl had his case continued until May.

A man charged with carrying on a sexual relationship with a high school girl appeared in court for a brief hearing Thursday morning.

Timothy Hagan, 40, was accompanied by Joliet attorney Dave Carlson.

Carlson explained to Will County Judge Richard Schoenstedt that he has yet to receive discovery evidence he needs to prepare Hagan's defense.

Police are still examining Hagan's computer and are searching for email messages he may have written to the teenage girl he was supposedly involved with sexually in the spring of 2009, a source said.

The girl, a 17-year-old at the time of the alleged affair, was a student at Lockport Township High School. Hagan worked for Lockport Township High School District 205 as a network administrator in the IT department.

Hagan's illicit relationship with the teen came to light after she "made an outcry to a family friend," according to a statement released by the Lockport Police Department following Hagan's arrest in May.

In the same statement, the police claimed that Hagan was "in a position of authority" over the teenage student.

In more than six months of court appearances, Hagan's supposed position of authority over the girl has yet to be explained. Carlson declined to discuss the case following Thursday's hearing.

Hagan is free on $10,000 bond. The class 2 felony sex charge carries a possible prison term of three to seven years.

Schoenstedt set a May 16 date for Hagan's next court appearance. The Judge said it will be Hagan's final pretrial hearing.
